This drawing took around 230 hours to complete. Using primarily charcoal for the base tones and graphite for the details, my goal was to capture the high contrast with rich dark values. Capturing the way the light fell on the subject's face was crucial to draw the attention of the view to the center point of the work. I'm fascinated by the different textures on the human body--from the skin on the hands, fingers, face to the hair as well. Each required unique problem solving and I learned so much along the way.
