Unbridled Awakening
The first plein air painting painted without my puffy coat and heated socks, this piece was completed in one exhausting session at a dam on the Raquette River in Northern New York. The composition lived in my head over the winter, and once the weather warmed up, I perched on the rocks above where the water crashed and changed course, flowing off to the left. All the energy careening at me while I painted surely imbued me with the strength to knock this out -- sort of a "beginner's luck" at the beginning of the painting season.
