Hoop Dreams

Walking back to my car late at night after dinner with friends. I saw this scene. It was not hard to miss since my car was parked next to it. I loved the light and how it was cast as I leaned against my car sketching the scene and making notes as it was too dark to photograph and I didn't have my paints with me to whip up a sketch. It would have been hard to paint anyways after all the beers we had. Just as I was finishing up a rough sketch I saw the upstairs light come on and the title for the whole painting hit me. I live in a small rural town that has had much better days and I could just envision the kid in that house dreaming big. I hope his/her dreams come true.
