Furlough

"Furlough" captures a moment of introspection and solitude. The subject, seated in a worn armchair, appears lost in thought, surrounded by a textured, abstract environment. The muted color palette and subtle details of the background create a sense of quiet contemplation and the passage of time.

Using oil and cold wax medium, I created layers of texture and depth, allowing the painting to convey a sense of emotional weight and atmosphere. The cold wax enabled me to build a rich, tactile surface that enhances the feeling of isolation and introspection. My process involved careful consideration of light and shadow, focusing on the contrast between the subject and the surrounding space to highlight the mood of the piece.
