I spent three days with a few bands of horses in west Colorado. Getting to witness, photograph and paint their raw gentle power is one of my most precious memories. I wanted to compose a powerful image that portrays that exact gentleness and the power they hold in the desert landscape. This painting is based off of plein air, done in studio.
