This painting was primarily about capturing the convergence of my mood with the weather and atmospheric effect during a solo hike last fall. The partial obstruction of the saguaro takes the focus away from what could easily dominate the image. Instead, this is more about the sky and complexity of desert vegetation, a pairing that offered metaphors for my internal state at the time.
