Autumn Storm

This was originally supposed to be a sunny day picture, but a thunderstorm appeared on the tenth day. A rainbow started to form - it was broken zig-zags with three bands of purple and it slowly formed into a perfect rainbow. I took it as a sign that I should immediately change my painting into the dramatic scene that unfolded. Fortunately the storm did not approach me so I had plenty of time to paint the rainbow that had formed and to block in the shadow patterns. I then proceeded to finish the painting in a few more sessions on the spot.
