Empty Nest

Empty Nest
Painting with friends at a local private farm, I was in love with this crumbling chicken coop. Chickens still run around and under this coop, though they have a much more structurally sound coop over yonder. The owner lamented that he should tear it down but doesn't have the heart - it's sentimental. His emotional attachment to this old charmer haunted me for weeks. Much as I loved the painting, I mailed it to the farmer. He loves it too - perhaps it will help ease losing his old friend someday.
