This is a plein air painting done at the Garapata State Park on the California coast between Carmel-By-The-Sea and Big Sur. I used a palette knife for this painting instead of brushes. I truly enjoy the palette knife in these coastal bluffs that are quite frankly slowly breaking away into the Pacific Ocean! The craggy rock formations that are formed as they break away look more realistic when painted with the knife!
