Dock Mates

Dock Mates was inspired by one of my favorite spots to paint and sketch in Naples, Florida. City Dock is home to many beautiful boats. The boat on the left is titled Shakula, which means "Beautiful" in Arabic, and I felt it was appropriate that it was the first of these 3 dock mates tied up in the marina. These boats always catch my eye, possibly because it is always sunny in Florida and these boats are so clean and shiny or possibly because they are just so calm and peaceful as they sit at the dock. This scene just begged me to paint it for several years and finally I did.
