The location is Jemez River near Battleship Rock. As I was standing there painting on location, I noticed ants all along the shore. I was determined to paint there which means being as quick as possible. I had to keep brushing them off of my legs the whole time. I think it helped me get to the essentials of the scene quicker. This was painted in oil and cold wax 100% plein air.
