When an exhibit opportunity took me on a road trip to Michigan, I took the opportunity to explore the beauty of my surroundings, frequently stopping to paint en plein air. Completed outside one early morning, “A New Day” incorporates warm colors, soft edges, and gentle light to capture the atmosphere of the fleeting moments when the sun's first rays fall upon the natural world.
