Painted en plein air along the Boise River, when a huge wild fire about 130 miles north (Lowman, Idaho) blanketed the skies of southern Idaho giving everything an acrid orange-yellow glow. I was born and raised in Boise and had never, ever seen the atmosphere like this. Even the water looked "on-fire" that week.
