This piece was inspired by the turbulent coastline of Acadia, Maine. The momentum of the waves contrasts the solidity and stability of the shoreline. I was particularly interested in the distinctive contrasts in this scene between the rocky boulders which have stood the test of time, and the ever-changing waves which crash upon them. There is also a satisfying color harmony between these features in the complementary deep blue of the ocean and warm orange of the coast. Finally, the bubbling sea foam which crests these swirling waves also caught my eye.
